The SUPER LIKE

Once a week, Instagram users get one Super-Like they can use on any post or story. It’s designed to help someone stand out, both to the creator and their audience. It turns engagement into a decision, not a reflex.

  • The Super Like offers users a more meaningful way to engage with creators. It creates visibility for standout support, helping creators identify their most loyal fans while enhancing the social experience for everyone.

  • Too often I’ve wished for a way to stand out when supporting my favorite creators. Likes have become passive, easy to give, and easy to ignore.

The Super Like solves that. You only get one per week, so it forces users to be intentional.

The goal was to design something that creates social weight, encourages meaningful appreciation, and adds a new layer to how creators and fans connect.

  • I started by analyzing Instagram’s typical feature rollout layout, gradient background, centered visuals, and a clean modal style. I designed the Super Like icon and confirmation popup using a mix of OpenAI’s 4o image tools and Photoshop.

From there, I recreated real IG interfaces with subtle details, like profile pic placement and interaction icons, to make the concept feel native.

My focus was making the Super Like look like it already belongs in Instagram because that’s the type of UX thinking I believe in: seamless, on-brand, and behavior-driven.

Why can’t I shuffle?

There are shows that I don't want to watch in order, like sitcoms and anthologies. Currently, there’s no way to shuffle on streaming platforms. Let’s change that.

  • A recent survey from CableTV.com found that 87% of Americans have a "comfort show" they turn to repeatedly.

This hypothetical feature offers a way to experience beloved shows in a new, stress-free way. Whether you’re winding down after a long day or just need a sense of familiarity while going about your routine.

  • In the past, I constantly had Family Guy on for background noise. But when the last episode played, I had to restart the entire show from the beginning.

I thought to myself, "What if I could just shuffle the episodes—watch one from Season 12, then Season 3, and then Season 20—without having to follow a strict order?" This idea led me to design a feature that brings more freedom and flexibility to how we watch our favorite shows.

  • Similar features have been implemented in the past. For example, Netflix introduced the "Play Something" feature, which let users watch a random show or movie from their watchlist with the press of a button.

While not identical to a shuffle button for specific TV shows, it demonstrates that streaming platforms are open to randomization features.

Not just a revamp, this is a Streaming Service revolution.

ELEVATE NEWS

Screenshots

After 3 months of intense research and development, I launched a fully functional app where I created the UX/UI and developed both the front and backend of the app.

Onboarding

The first 3 screens you see when opening any app can make or break the attention of your users. Make them simple, informative, and visually pleasing.

Original Mock Up

Created in Figma for a pitch competition, where I won first place and decided to fully self-develop the app, utilizing the funding I received.

Final Design

Heavily inspired by the mockups above, this is the current version of Elevate News after extensive beta testing with dozens of users through A/B testing.

(Elevate 2.0 is currently in development)

Also developed and designed by me.*
